Gulf Stream remains an exclusively residential and recreational town.
In the 1920s, acreage at state road A1A started off as a vision for a golf course, polo fields and seasonal housing. Addison Mizner, Palm Beach architect was commissioned to design the clubhouse for the golf club. Today the golf club remains one of the premier private golf clubs in the country. The tree-lined road is edged with Australian Pines, originally put in to combat high winds and which still remain there today.
The footprint for Gulfstream today is approximately 0.8 square miles and the polo fields were sold for further residential development in the early 1960s. Gulf Stream remains an exclusively residential and recreational town. With a population under 1000, it is an exclusive enclave of unique architecture and has maintained its small-town charm.
If you are seeking the feeling of Palm Beach, but want a smaller more intimate option, Gulfstream just might be the place. From its excellent location to its exclusivity, it's truly an elegant experience.
