West Medford is somewhat upscale and affluent, whereas the rest of Medford is quite middle class. Medford is Catholic territory, and its public schools are just ok but it has a lot of parochial schools within its borders, some of which are quite well-known in the area. Medford offers easy access to Boston and is a more affordable option than Winchester.
